Professional Care Partner Expansion Initiative
The IU Health Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Service have been finding ways to support our local healthcare agencies for aging adults for many years now.
We have collaborated and create new ways to generate healthcare professionals in our community, working with adult learners, high school career centers and Indiana University.
With the struggles presented by COVID-19, we see dedicated healthcare professionals putting their lives on the line to provide care day in and day out. We see that there is even more employee burnout than before the pandemic, due to lack of staff and current, innovative training.
In response to this need, we are expanding our reach to the Lawrence and Orange counties to offer classes on site in long term care facilities. Classes would be offered in house for the employees you recruit for these classes. All trainings would offer post-training support and consultation.
The classes include best practices for dementia education, care and communication. You can then choose courses that are for Home Health Aides or Certified Nursing Assistants, based on your needs.
With this training, you will receive these added benefits:
o Review with newly trained staff at 1st, 3rd and 6 months after training to maintain skills and encourage continued best practices.
o Online classroom options, if students need to quarantine or are unable to come to the classroom. This flexibility offers us the ability to train students on time for their test regardless of life hurdles.
o The option to send your current staff through the Dementia Education, based on Positive Approach to Care Skills. ™
o Assistance with recruiting through marketing of classes.
