Dementia Friendly Care Partner Development Program- Bloomington Indiana
Our Care Partner Development Program is dedicated to helping students understand the importance of being a Professional Care Partner. Many parts of this program will include better ways to communicate and partner with someone who is living with dementia.
If you are interested in a scholarship we will need you to understand a few things about the program first;
The skills you will learn will help you understand that you are not just a care giver, but rather a care partner. Being a Care Partner is so much more than doing day to day chores FOR someone; it is being a part of their lives and doing activities of daily living WITH them. Every Care Partner plays an important role in the lives of the person they are working with, no matter how big or small the task may be, your support means everything to that person who is relying on you.
This program is a partnership with several organizations in our community to create a way to have the best learning experience in different settings and facilities in the area. Included is extra hours of dementia education and training where you will be working directly with a Person living with dementia as well as classroom and clinical time required by state to complete Home Health Aide and CNA expectations.
This program has many funding sources a community effort and if chosen the student will not be responsible for any of the costs.
